Annually, we meet with Milltown Sailing Association for a friendly rivalry match race followed by a social evening. We switch home ports every year. Odd years are in Edmonds, where we use our usual race marks and then do a dock party and/or retire to a bar in Edmonds. Even years are in Everett. Everett has twice the number of race marks we do, and sometimes even a moored barge, plus a mud flat to contend with. CYCE brings a fleet up for the race and stays at Port of Everett marina near the MSA clubhouse to socialize. Other amenities are nearby.
There are two divisions for flying sails and nonflying sails. As always, competitive and non-competitive boats are encouraged to attend. Every boat counts in this race since team tactics come into play (still following the Racing Rules of Sailing), and there is the potential for scores to count deep into the field of boats to break a tie.
The social component will be revised in 2020 due to COVID-19 restrictions, so stay tuned. The photos below are from the 2019 race in Edmonds.
